Despite the global economic slowdown, IKEA is expanding in Malaysia.
The Ikano Group will open its 2nd IKEA store in Malaysia as early as end of this year.
Called IKEA Tebrau City, it will be situated next to AEON Tebrau City in Johor Bahru, the southern Malaysian city bordering Singapore.
In August 2003, IKEA opened the largest IKEA Asian store in Mutiara Damansara, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur.
In the next 5 years, Ikano plans to open one store in Penang, Melaka and another one in KL.

as far my info goes. IKEA did wanna open in JB. but it's Iskandar area since they bought the land there during 2005. The project was scrapped off 2007 due to economy slowdown. I don't know where the editor for this blog got his info from. Ever since then there are rumours that IKEA going to open a lot of branches and bla bla bla. All those are Joseph Lau's dream, but Joseph Lau was removed from IKEA this year cause he was found cheating on the company's money. So I think all those branches might take some years to be realized.
So is there a Ikea still in JB???
